  • I run.

I’ve tried vlogging 4 times already – I give up.

Each time my children have done something ridiculous. I am tempted to post the madness anyway…

I haven’t blogged about my weightloss competition ending. I got 4th place overall (the top female =]) I lost 18.4 pounds in 10 weeks. I’m still waiting for my measurement results to come, which will also include a before and after photo to share! Our team as a whole won first place which included a small gift bag of some helpful fitness tools… all of which I already had =[ but that is ok, I just wanted to WIN and prove that I can do it.

I run my very first 5k on Saturday. I'm so ready to nail a good time. I've been working on my stride and practicing the walk/run method in Jeff Galloways book. It has seriously increased my time and stamina on the pavement! I'm very very excited to see where I place in my age group.

This sunday I run my FIRST 8k in Chicago - the Shamrock Shuffle. I cannot wait for this race. I have to keep a 15 minute mile pace... I only have 1 hour and 15 minutes to finish the race. I was not confident I could do it until the walk/run method changed everything about how I run!

I've also discovered that Asics has the best fit for my feet. I have a neutral arch (its the best shocks a foot can get) and I also have a mid-foot strike which seems to be an advantage for a runner =]

I feel like an athlete again. I’m passionate and thriving. I’ve tried very hard not to bore you with all my running updates and such.

I am interest though, is anyone out there a serious runner? I live near Chicago (northwest Indiana) and would love to race with some Xangans… I’m looking for more races to do this year and I’ve struggled to find running mates that run faster and either push me, or run at a similar pace to enjoy my new hobby with.

I’m also really interested in adding more Xanga friends to my Facebook – please, come visit and send a friend request! Summer Lynn <3 (I have almost looked up a few people I know the names of, but felt like a creep so I refrained. LOL)

  • Running… I feel like if God wanted me to run, he wouldn’t have placed me on top of the food chain…
On the other hand, being on top of the food chain made me fat…
I’m actually planning on running here in the summer… I’m losing a job and I’ll be out of school so I will have a lot of time on my hands. I will start slow by walking my dog, and I will steadily increase my pace. My dog is a husky, so he’ll love running with me!
I’ll add you to facebook so you can avoid feeling like a creep :)

  • @jmallory - haha, thanks for the add =]

try the running walking intervals. One minute each until you can run 4 minutes per 1 minute walk. It’s helpful to change gears for the muscles in your legs… and for your lungs =]
I’m SMASHING times and just blowing through goals with the walk.run method. I used to think a runner who walked was weak and a quitter, but my goodness does it have awesome results!

  • Good advice! I’ll take it :)

  • Congrats! That’s awesome.

  • Congrats on the results!

  • Nice!  Went running today first time in a week…ack!  Started back up a couple months ago. Woo hoo.  Just sent a FB friend request…don’t use it much though.  See if you recognize me…I use a pseudonym here :)

  • Good work for you! Way to go! I did the Color Run two weeks ago. I walked it but was surprised how much I kept passing other people. I would like to jog one (or jog/walk maybe)but I still need to lose some more weight before my ankles can take the weight on them.

  • @Doubledb - what did you think abotu the color run, its on my list…

  • I liked it. However, if you dont get there early, you have to wait to start since they stagger start in groups. The run started at 9 and our group started about like 10 or 10:30. But it was fun. I walked this time, maybe I will walk and jog next time.

I did throw away my white shirt though, ha ha, cause I didn’t want to wash it and get my other clothes covered in multicolored corn starch. It took a whole week, but I finally got the last remnants of the red corn starch (color of Texas Tech here in Lubbock, TX) out of my hair this past weekend, ha ha ;.)

    You should go!

  • @Doubledb - you know, one of the reasons I might do the electric run in Indianapolis instead (as well as the fact that is looks beyond epic) is because my hair is bleach blonde… it will surely be multicolored for a while! haha…

The hubby and I are looking to do a mud run together at the end of the summer.
